The Sailor Moon Romance

Okay, I admit it, I am a huge romantic at heart (you would never know it by looking at me). In fact, I think one of the most captivating things in Sailormoon is the romance element. It's surreal and fantasy- like, which is definitely cool. By the way, has anyone noticed the way Sailor Moon ties in with classical and modern mythology? For example, one of the books about King Arthur, entitled The Once and Future King is all too obvious. King Arthur was a great king once, and it is said that he will rule again. Well, Queen Serenity was a great queen once and ends up being a great queen again, in the form of Neo-Queen Serenity. Does that make Sailor Moon the once and future queen? Hmm. You decide.
Furthermore, there are many more romances in Sailormoon. Molly and Nephrite, Prisma and Sapphire (I liked that one), Haruka and Michiru, Rei and Chad, the list goes on. I'll incorporate their stories when I get around to it. Hey, is it true that in the manga, Jaedite, Nephrite, Zoisite, and Kunzite were involved with the four inner senshi when they were Endymion's generals?
Anyway, I'm starting to ramble again, so here is my account of the Sailor Moon Romance Story.

Once, a long time ago

during the Silver Millenium, the entire solar system was at peace. Queen Serenity, who ruled the moon, was teaching her daughter, the beautiful Princess Serena, to follow in her footsteps. However, Serena had something else on her young mind. Something tall, strong and handsome. Something, or someone, should I say, from Earth.
Unfortunately, communication between the Earth and the Moon was prohibited. The Earth people were generally envious of the Moon Kingdom and its citizens because they lived for a thousand years. Despite the rising conflict, Serena had fallen in love with the Earth's crown prince, Endymion.
It was no surprise, really. Serena was a beautiful, noble young woman. Endymion was an intelligent, wise, and damn good looking young man. Serena would often stare at the enchanting blue and green orb known as Earth. To her, it was a world of dreams and possibilities. Similarly, Endymion would stare up at the glowing ivory moon, the home of his love.
But, because of the tension, Serena and Endymion had to meet in secret. Eventually, the Moon and the Earth declared war on eachother. Endymion did his best to protect Serena. He refused to fight, calling the war senseless. He was killed. The sailor senshi also tried to save their princess, but all were destroyed. Finally, only Queen Serenity, Luna, and Artemis were left alive. Serenity encased the bodies of the citizens of the moon in crytals and sent them to another time on Earth. She buried the Imperium Silver crystal inside her daughter for safekeeping. Serenity had also used the crystal to seal the Negaverse away. The Negaverse had been the agitator in all this conflict, and brainwashed the four generals. Because she used the power of the crystal, Serenity gave up her life.
In the late twentieth century, the Sailor senshi, the prince, and the princess were reincarnated into their present forms. They looked a little different and recalled nothing about their past. When the Senshi and the monarchs were teenagers, the Negaverse was released again, led by Queen Beryl and Queen Metalia. Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask were called upon, eventually followed by the rest of the senshi.
In Sailormoon, Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon find out eachother's identities, Usagi Tsukino and Mamoru Chiba. When they do, they begin to remember the past's events. When they first met, they disliked eachother, but their memories caused them to change their minds. They fell in love all over again. Queen Beryl managed to kidnap and brainwash Mamoru, but Sailor Moon saved him. In the manga, their relationship runs smoothly until Sailor Stars. Mamoru leaves to study at Harvard, breaking Usagi's heart. She writes to him every day, but there is no response. As Sailor Galaxia (the enemy) gets stronger and stronger, Sailor Moon's friends either die off or betray her. She learns Mamoru is probably dead, but refuses to let the past happen all over again. Eventually, Mamoru comes back in the form of Endymion. Sailor Moon/Princess Serenity manages to use her big heart to save everybody once again. In the last act of Stars, Mamoru and Usagi get married.

The Future...

In the future, Serenity and Endymion become the king and queen of the Earth. They have a daughter named Chibi-Usa. Despite a few time-lane related conflicts, they live happily ever after. This is not the end. If you want to hear what happens next (according to the fans) go to the links page!
